Ukraine Downs 10 Russian Drones in Night Attack

On the night of June 29th, Ukrainian air defences successfully repelled a Russian drone attack, shooting down all ten Shahed attack drones launched by Russia, according to a report by The Kyiv Independent.

The drones were reportedly launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia's Krasnodar region.

Following the attack, Ukrainian Air Force mobile firefighting units were deployed to extinguish fires caused by the downed drones in several regions. The Air Force confirmed that the drones were shot down over the Ukrainian oblasts of Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, and Vinnytsia.

Earlier that night, the Air Force issued warnings regarding potential drone strikes in various regions. Explosions were later heard around 3:00 AM local time in Vinnytsia, as reported by Suspilne, the Ukrainian public broadcaster. Fortunately, these explosions caused no reported damage or casualties.

Drone strikes have become a daily occurrence in Ukraine, plaguing various regions across the country. Recent months have seen a sharp rise in Russian attacks targeting critical Ukrainian infrastructure, particularly energy facilities. In response to these attacks, Ukraine began implementing rolling blackouts on May 15th. These power outages have intensified significantly in the weeks since.
