Euro Knockout Stage: Switzerland vs. Italy & Germany vs. Denmark
Following a two-day hiatus, the European Championship resumes in Germany today with the commencement of the knockout stage.
The opening fixtures feature Switzerland taking on Italy, followed by Germany facing Denmark.
Switzerland secured the second-place position in Group A after recording a victory against Hungary (3-1), drawing with both Scotland (1-1) and Germany (1-1). Meanwhile, Italy finished runners-up in Group B. The Azzurri narrowly edged out Albania (2-1) but fell short against Spain (0-1) before securing a draw with Croatia (1-1).
The host nation, Germany, enjoyed a dominant performance in Group A, crushing Scotland 5-1 and defeating Hungary 2-0. Their only blemish was a 1-1 draw against Switzerland. Denmark, on the other hand, failed to impress in Group C, drawing all their matches: 1-1 with Slovenia, 1-1 with England, and 0-0 with Serbia. Despite managing only 3 points, Denmark remarkably secured the second-place position in the group.
The Switzerland vs. Italy clash will be held at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, with kick-off scheduled for 7:00 PM CET. The Germany vs. Denmark match will take place at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, commencing at 10:00 PM CET. Both matches will be broadcast live and exclusively on Moldova 1, the national television station.
