Co-rapporteurs of the APCE Monitoring Commission, on a documentary visit to the Republic of Moldova

The co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Pierre-Alain Fridez and Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, will be, between July 1 and 3, on a documentary visit to the Republic of Moldova. It will cover recent political developments, the preparation of the presidential elections and the constitutional referendum, the implementation of postal voting. Other topics that will be addressed during the visit are foreign interference, the progress of justice reform and the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors.

At the Parliament, the co-rapporteurs will meet with the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, with the president of the "Action and Solidarity Party", the deputy chairperson of the Parliament Doina Gherman and with the members of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists faction, reads a press release issued by the Parliament.

Also, the agenda of the documentary visit includes meetings with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Mihail Popșoi.

The APCE co-rapporteurs also planned discussions with the director of the Intelligence and Security Service, Alexandru Musteata, the general prosecutor, Ion Munteanu, the head of the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, with members of the Vetting Commission for judges and prosecutors and with representatives of the Central Electoral Commission.

Likewise, discussions will be held with experts and representatives of civil society about election preparation and foreign interference.

The last documentary visit of the co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe took place in February of this year.
