Zelensky urges Trump to share peace plan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on former White House chief Donald Trump to share his plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine within 24 hours, if he really has one. Zelensky said this on Wednesday, July 3, in an interview with the American television channel Bloomberg Television, DW reports.
"If Trump knows how to end this war, he should tell us about it today," the Ukrainian president said. "If there are risks to Ukrainian independence, if we lose our statehood, we want to be ready for this, we want to know this."
Zelensky said he was "potentially ready" to meet with Trump and his team to hear their proposals . "We want to understand whether we will have strong US support in November or whether we will be completely alone," he said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian leader once again spoke out against the ceasefire proposed the day before by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. According to him, those who had previously made similar proposals could not formulate how it could work. "Nobody has a solution," Zelensky asserts.
Donald Trump, the Republican Party's front-runner for the 2024 US presidential election, has repeatedly said that if he wins, he will be able to achieve a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine "within 24 hours," even before taking office. However, he has refused to publicly say how he plans to do this, but has suggested that Ukraine will have to agree to lose some territory for the sake of peace .
