The Republic of Moldova and Romania are strengthening their bilateral cooperation and support for European integration

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Luminița Odobescu. They discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation. The two officials expressed their desire to deepen and to capitalize on joint projects in areas such as: energy, infrastructure, agriculture, environment, culture and education.

The Republic of Moldova received Romania's support for the official launch of accession negotiations to the European Union. Minister Mihai Popșoi thanked his Romanian counterpart, Luminița Odobescu, for help.

"Romania has always been and remains a fierce and sincere supporter of the Republic of Moldova in our irreversible journey towards the great European family", declared Mihai Popșoi.

Romania will continue to help the Republic of Moldova in carrying out the reforms necessary for integration into the European Union, said Luminița Odobescu.

"I congratulate you on this historic moment. You can count on Romania's support".

The meeting took place on the occasion of the working visit of the head of Romanian diplomacy to Chisinau to participate in the trilateral meeting Republic of Moldova-Romania-Ukraine.

Following the event, the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine will sign a memorandum on combating disinformation.
