Maia Sandu: France has been a strong partner of the Republic of Moldova in obtaining candidate status for accession to the EU
France has been a very strong ally of the Republic of Moldova in obtaining the status of candidate country for accession to the European Union, Head of State Maia Sandu said during today's meeting with the French head of diplomacy Catherine Colonna, who made a short visit to Chisinau within the framework of her visit to Ukraine.
Maia Sandu said that the French state has been providing considerable humanitarian aid to manage the refugee crisis, budget support, technical assistance in the energy sector and for the modernisation of the Moldovan railway.
The discussion also focused on the challenges facing our country in the context of the Russian war against Ukraine, Moldova's energy security, Moldovan-French cooperation in the field of anti-corruption and the recuperation of stolen assets from the country.
Today, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna will also visit Romania, where she will discuss with officials from the neighbouring country the continued support for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, Radio România Actualități reports. The officials will also talk about cooperation with Romania in the framework of solidarity corridors for Ukrainian grain exports.
