A serviceman lost his life while trying to leave Ukraine illegally
A serviceman was shot dead by an officer of the State Service of Ukraine while trying to leave the country illegally with three comrades. The case happened on July 14, the Ukrainian authorities confirm.
According to "Ukrinform", the four soldiers allegedly escaped from the training ground in the Odesa region and tried to leave Ukraine illegally. A crew of border police stopped the car they were in. One of the soldiers allegedly resisted, and as a result a border policeman shot him twice. The soldier was killed.
The media writes that the four soldiers allegedly tried to leave the country illegally through the border with the Transnistrian region. Asked for a comment, the representatives of the Political Reintegration Bureau stated for "Teleradio-Moldova" that the incident happened on the territory of Ukraine, with the involvement of border workers from Ukraine.
"The Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova has no connection with this incident," declared the Reintegration Bureau.
The spokesman of the Border Police of Ukraine, Andrei Demchenko, said that this is not the first time that border patrols have been attacked along the entire length of the state border, forcing the servicemen to use weapons to protect their lives and health.
Due to the introduction of martial law in Ukraine and the announced mobilization, men aged between 18 and 60 are prohibited from leaving the country. Exceptions are men who are no longer in the military register or temporarily unfit for service, as well as those with three or more minor children.
