Moldova's Security Key for Europe, Says President Sandu

The security of Moldova is very important for the security of Europe, declared President Maia Sandu at the European Political Community Summit.

During the meeting, the head of state discussed with EU leaders the challenges our country faces, including disinformation. In this context, officials expressed their support for working together to combat hybrid Russian attacks and illegal money from the Kremlin.

"We agreed to create a group of experts from all countries so that we can have a better exchange of information about these dangers. But also to act together, combining our resources to be more efficient, because we see that individually it is very hard to combat these hybrid attacks that aim to manipulate our citizens, disinform public opinion, and interfere in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova," said Maia Sandu.

During the summit, the head of state had several bilateral meetings with officials from the Netherlands, Latvia, and Denmark, as well as a multilateral meeting with the prime ministers of Britain and Poland, the presidents of France and Romania, the president of the European Council, and the chancellor of Germany. President Maia Sandu also met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss the need to improve collaboration in combating corruption and illegal financial flows.

The two officials also discussed signing an agreement on the mutual recognition of driving licences in the two countries.

Maia Sandu is conducting a working visit to Great Britain from 17-18 July and is travelling to Ireland on 19 July.

Besides the meetings in Great Britain, the head of state will travel to Dublin to meet with the president of Ireland, Michael Daniel Higgins, and the prime minister of Ireland, Simon Harris.

In both London and Dublin, the president will meet with the Moldovan communities settled in Great Britain and Ireland.
