Serious railway accident in Basarab Station in Bucharest, this evening. The Romanian authorities activated the red intervention plan, after a locomotive hit a train with passengers. According to preliminary information, 15 people were injured, and eight were hospitalized. Several intervention teams arrived at the scene, writes Euronews.
According to the quoted source, among the injured are both passengers and a mechanic.
The authorities in Bucharest say that the incident happened because of a technical fault: a blocked dimmer.
A similar problem led to a tragedy last year, in Galați.
