Economic agents from the Transnistrian region are reorienting their trade towards the EU in 2024

Over 80% of the exports and 53% of the imports of economic agents from the Transnistrian region targeted the European Union, in the first semester of the current year, reads a press release of the Reintegration Policy Office.

The suspension of the activity of the crossing points on the central (Transnistrian) segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border, as a result of the war in Ukraine, determined the change of logistics chains and the significant reorientation of the commercial activity in the region towards the EU markets.

Thus, the export of economic agents from the Transnistrian region to the EU countries constituted over 80%, a new record figure since the signing of the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. Also, in the same period, there is a maintenance of import commercial relations with the EU, the indicator is 53 percent.

The main destinations in the community space, chosen by economic agents from the Transnistrian region, are Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Bulgaria, Germany, Slovakia, France, Latvia, Austria.
