16 New Trolleybuses Delivered to Bălți in EBRD-Funded Project

The trolleybus park in Bălți has been enhanced with 16 electric units, produced in the Republic of Moldova.

These vehicles, equipped with the latest technologies, ensure maximum comfort for passengers. The trolleybuses have been delivered as part of an auction organized by the Bălți City Hall, financed through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The project envisages the delivery of a total of 22 electric trolleybuses with on-the-move charging.

The private manufacturing company assures that the 16 trolleybuses delivered to the north are of high quality. The first trolleybus manufactured by this company was delivered last year, also to Bălți. Previously, the company collaborated with Regia Transport Electric on the assembly of trolleybuses. Since 2013, over 300 trolleybuses assembled at this factory have been put into service in the capital.

"We receive components from different countries; we also have electronic components, and the majority of electronic parts are produced by us here in the Republic of Moldova. Then all these are assembled together, with the body and all other parts. They are tested, and at the end, a certified product is produced," said Vitalie Eșanu, the company's director.

The trolleybuses operate on batteries. Each unit is equipped with four batteries, produced by the company.

The Minister of Economy, Dumitru Alaiba, who visited the factory, emphasized the importance of developing the domestic industry.

"Our industry needs a new breath of life and new support; however, we have a foundation from which to start and grow further. We have 16 trolleybuses already delivered to the people of Bălți, produced here in the Republic of Moldova," mentioned Dumitru Alaiba.

The delivery of the 16 vehicles is the first stage of the contract with the Bălți City Hall, with another 6 trolleybuses set to circulate on the streets of the municipality by the end of August.
