CEC will collaborate with TikTok to combat fakes during the election period
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) in our country will collaborate with the TikTok platform to combat disinformation during the electoral period, in the context of the polls scheduled for October 20. In a meeting with TikTok representative Azamat Burjuev, CEC members and officials discussed the platform's policies and tools to prevent the spread of fake messages and illegal election advertising.
At the same time, the mechanisms by which the CEC can use TikTok for electoral information and education and how the platform can be notified to counter threats to the integrity of the elections were analyzed.
In this context, the president of the CEC, Angelica Caraman, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, considering the increase in disinformation, especially in the online environment, during the electoral campaigns.
"The CEC is open to adopting measures to ensure the transparency and fairness of the electoral process, using TikTok to inform and to educate voters," reads the statement.
The initiative aims to increase the integrity of the elections and correctly inform the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, in which the TikTok platform is becoming increasingly popular in the country.
