World Bank offers the Republic of Moldova a grant of 10.5 million dollars for reforms’ implementation
The Republic of Moldova will receive a non-refundable grant in the amount of 10.5 million dollars, offered by the World Bank. The Parliament ratified the agreement concluded with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association, which will co-finance the "Development Policy Operation to Support Growth and Resilience in Moldova" Program.
The grant will be used to support the state budget and to implement essential reforms in several areas. The program's objectives include improving access to the labor market, adjusting social legislation, aligning rules with EU standards and strengthening the energy and financial sectors. In addition, the funds will support the country's sustainable forest management and climate commitments.
To access the grant, the Republic of Moldova must meet 11 conditions, including the amendment of the legislation on social benefits and the labor code, the adoption of amendments to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund legislation and the amendment of the Competition Law.
Funds will be disbursed in one instalment after these conditions are met. The deadline for use is June 30, 2026.
The agreement was signed on July 11 and represents an important step for the development and resilience of the Republic of Moldova.
