Lithuania will donate drones and night vision devices to the Republic of Moldova
Lithuania will deliver to the Republic of Moldova drones and thermal devices for night vision. This was announced in a briefing by the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, who is visiting Chisinau.
"Lithuania will deliver to the Republic of Moldova thermal devices for night vision. At the same time, drones are also to be delivered. We have very good producers. We are waiting for your study visit in the fall, during which it will be possible to familiarize yourself with the use of drones", said Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas.
He declared that Lithuania will continue to support the independence of the Republic of Moldova, its territorial integrity and the European path: "We admire the efforts you are making, which the Government is making in such a way as to continue the path of integration into the EU. In this context you will have our support. In order not to lose the momentum of the reforms, continue the efforts to increase the defense budget", pointed out Laurynas Kasčiūnas.
For his part, the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, stated that our country wants to strengthen the defense partnership with Lithuania, through new projects of common interest, towards the development of a modern, equipped and trained army, capable of facing all challenges. The Republic of Moldova relies heavily on Lithuania's continued support of the European path, efforts to strengthen defense capabilities, security, and peace in our region.
"The visit is a good opportunity to review the cooperation in the military field between our countries and the support offered by Lithuania in support of the effort to modernize the defense institution of the Republic of Moldova, and to identify new joint activity projects. The Republic of Moldova is in the first process of European integration, a space of peace and well-being. This does not only mean economic growth, new opportunities for investment, but also the development of all spheres, including a modern defense sector to provide security to citizens today and tomorrow. Thank you for being with us on this journey", said Anatolie Nosatîi.
Anatolie Nosatîi said that an important point of the dialogue concerned the political support from Lithuania, within international assistance platforms, such as the European Peace Facility and the initiative to strengthen defense capabilities.
"We also discussed the ways in which Lithuania could help us in the efforts to boost the contribution of the Republic of Moldova to ensuring international peace and security, to the fulfillment of the commitments assumed at the international level, and to the transformation of the defense institution", said the Minister of Defense from Chisinau.
