Maia Sandu congratulates the newly elected president of the Czech Republic

President Maia Sandu congratulated General Petr Pavel on his election as President of the Czech Republic. The head of state mentioned that she expects the dialogue between the two countries to continue.

We remind that the new president will be sworn in on March 9, when he will take over from the current president of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman.

Analysts say the election of the pro-Western Petr Pavel represents a huge change in the leadership of the Czech Republic. His victory is also welcomed by the European community.

Retired general Petr Pavel, former chief of the Czech Defense General Staff, former chairman of the NATO Military Committee, but also a supporter of military aid to Ukraine, won the presidential election against former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis.
