Employee of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Russia, declared persona non grata. MFA reacts
An employee of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow was declared persona non grata on the territory of the Russian Federation. The note of protest was sent to the ambassador of our country in Moscow, Lilian Darii, who was summoned on August 6 to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
"The MFA regrets this decision, which is not based on the provisions of the Vienna Convention of 1961 on diplomatic relations", announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau.
Chisinau diplomacy announces that the embassy employee who was declared persona non grata is to return to the Republic of Moldova.
We remind you that an employee of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau was declared persona non grata on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, on August 1, after allegedly rounding up two officials from Chisinau to provide him with secret information. The latter were recently detained in a case of espionage and conspiracy against the Republic of Moldova.
According to the evidence presented by the prosecutors, the official from the Parliament would have charged between 200 and 2000 euros for the information provided to the employee of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Chisinau. The information concerned the activity of the Legislative, draft laws, as well as personal data.
