Conflicts in Israel: Moldovans stock up and prepare for the worst
The citizens of the Republic of Moldova in Israel are forced to live in a state of tension and uncertainty, amid the escalation of conflicts in this country. Several moldovans reported to Teleradio-Moldova that store shelves are quickly emptying, people stock up on food, and drinking water is sold by one bottle. At the same time, airline ticket prices exploded after many airlines suspended flights to Israel. The authorities in Chisinau say they are ready to provide assistance to those who want to return home.
Nadejda has been in Jerusalem with her family for 18 years. She says that lately, she has been living in a state of constant tension. People began to stock up on food, being limited to drinking water.
"People buy a lot of food from the shops, and one bottle of water is given per customer. We have not slept for 3 nights because we expect an attack from Iran in the next few days."
Many foreign companies no longer provide air services in Israel, and the prices for plane tickets have doubled or even tripled, Nadejda told Teleradio-Moldova. "Foreign companies have postponed their flights, currently only Israeli companies provide air services. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated in the north of Israel. Terrorists are bombing houses, apartments, cars."
Lebanon is launching rockets into the northern part of Israel, and people are worried about the tensions between Palestinians and Israelis, Svetlana, a Ukrainian from Jerusalem, told Teleradio-Moldova.
"People are worried about the terrorist attacks, which have intensified recently. The Army destroys the drones and missiles that the terrorists launch. We are very well-defended. The Israelis from the city of Kiriat-Smona have been evacuated, there are few people left there because they didn't want to be evicted". In recent weeks, the situation in the Middle East has become tense, and several countries, including the Republic of Moldova, have issued travel alerts to Israel and Lebanon. Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Chisinau recommended citizens to refrain from travelling to the State of Israel and the Middle East region, in the context of the current security situation and the increased risk of escalation.
Recently, the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Israel, Alexandr Roitman, told Teleradio-Moldova that Moldovans in Israel who want to leave the country because of the tense situation can return home, but they must check the flight schedule before setting off.
