Historic day for Moldovan sports. Anastasia Nichita will fight for the Olympic "gold" in the women's freestyle wrestling contest, in the 57-kilogram weight category. Her opponent is the Japanese Tsugumi Sakurai.
The fight between Nichita and Sakurai will take place at the Champ de Mars Arena sports complex after 8 p.m.
From 11:30, the canoeists Daniela Cociu and Maria Olărașu will fight for the qualification in the final, in the second semifinal of the women's double canoe event at the distance of 500 meters.
Also today, canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi, bronze medalist at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, will perform in the second semifinal of the single 1000-meter canoe event. The finals of both events with the participation of Moldovan canoeists are also scheduled for today.
The only Moldovan weightlifter at the Paris Olympics, Marin Robu, will compete, starting at 4 p.m., in the 89 kilogram weight category.
