Original news: Prosecutors request a ban on leaving the country for MP Marina Tauber, investigated in several criminal cases. The anti-corruption prosecutors demand in court the application of the preventive measure "obligation not to leave the country" on behalf of MP Marina Tauber, who is under criminal investigation in several cases. An approach in this sense is currently being examined by the magistrates of the Chisinau Court, based in Buiucani.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (PA) said for "Teleradio-Moldova" that the action was submitted after Tauber publicly announced, on August 8, that she intended to leave the Republic of Moldova, after she allegedly was threatened. The request was motivated by another information received at the PA address on August 12, according to which Tauber was to leave the country this evening.

"The anti-corruption prosecutors filed an application today at the Chisinau Court based in Buiucani, regarding the application of the preventive measure of the obligation not to leave the country to minimize the risk of evasion and to ensure the defendant's presence at the scheduled court hearings," the PA said for "Teleradio-Moldova" ".

In a message on social networks, the deputy said that today's meeting was an "unusual" one. Tauber said that she does not know the reason for the prosecutors' demand that she not leave the country for the next 60 days.

Marina Tauber, a member of the team of the fugitive oligarch Ilan Șor and now an independent deputy in Chisinau, is being investigated in nine files. In each criminal case, the deputy was deprived of parliamentary immunity. The procedure is necessary to be able to send the file to the court. For the first time, Tauber was left without parliamentary immunity in 2019. During 2022, she was deprived of immunity four times, in 2023 – three times, and in 2024 – once. The deputy rejects the accusations against her and does not plead guilty.

Tauber is also on the sanctions list of Canada and the European Union for attempts to destabilize the Republic of Moldova. In February 2024, Tauber was also included on the sanctions list of the USA "for facilitating Şor's attempts to undermine the electoral processes in the Republic of Moldova in the interests of the Kremlin".
