German Chancellor's visit highlights Moldova-EU relations

Federal Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, will make a working visit to the Republic of Moldova on August 21, at the invitation of President Maia Sandu.

Similarly, on Independence Day, our country will be visited by the presidents of the Baltic states, according to a statement from the Presidency.

"This visit highlights the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, with Germany being one of the most important partners of the Republic of Moldova in its modernization process and in our country's accession to the European Union," the statement from the cited source reads.

The last bilateral visit by a German chancellor to the Republic of Moldova took place 12 years ago.

Additionally, on August 27, the Republic of Moldova will be visited by the presidents of the three Baltic states: Alar Karis, President of Estonia; Edgars Rinkēvičs, President of Latvia; and Gitanas Nausėda, President of Lithuania.
