Danish handball wins third World Championship in a row
The Denmark men's handball team won the world title in Stockholm after defeating Tokyo Olympic champion - France, by a score of 34-29. Denmark dominated from start to finish, with a maximum lead of five goals in the first half, but by half-time the gap had narrowed to 16-15. The Danes pulled away in the final quarter, winning in the end by five goals.
Under these circumstances, the Nordics achieved a historic treble, after the titles in 2019 and 2021. France, who defeated Denmark at the Tokyo Olympics final, stays with six world titles in its palmares.
Spain defeated Sweden 39-36 in the small final, despite the Scandinavians being supported by 20,000 spectators.
