New amendments: Over 38 million USD for Moldova's development
The members of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee have approved the initiation of negotiations and the signing of two amendments: one to the Agreement on Assistance for Strengthening Participatory Democracy and another to the Agreement on Assistance for Sustainable Economic Growth Anchored in European Integration.
The first amendment authorises additional funding of over 12 million US dollars. This grant will be allocated to developing active civic culture, collaborating with independent media organisations, and improving local public administration services.
The second amendment allocates a grant exceeding 26 million US dollars. These funds will be utilised to enhance trade, boost exports, and improve market competitiveness of products. Additionally, the funds will be directed towards strengthening energy security through diversifying energy sources and bolstering the security and independence of energy infrastructure.
Moreover, the amendments extend the implementation period of the agreements until December 18, 2027.
The two assistance agreements were signed between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America in Chisinau on September 28, 2016.
