Russian missiles hit Kyiv: Shahed drones strike Kharkiv
A combined attack using cruise and ballistic missiles was launched on the Ukrainian capital during the night of September 2, according to Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
“An incredibly large number of ballistic missiles simultaneously,” he reported, DW notes. Popko stated that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted and destroyed over 20 X-101 and Iskander-M missiles.
Debris from the attack fell across four districts of Kyiv, causing car fires and damage to non-residential buildings. Casualty data are still being clarified, Popko added.
Preliminary data indicate that the cruise missiles were launched by Tu-95MS bombers from the Saratov region.
Kharkiv was shelled again by the Russian armed forces, as reported by city mayor Ihor Terekhov and Oleg Sinegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
Officials reported that one Shahed-type drone struck a private residence in the Kyivskyi district, injuring a 66-year-old woman. The second drone strike occurred in the Slobodskyi district, near an educational institution. Items from other civil infrastructure were also damaged. Preliminary data indicate that no one was injured in this second attack.
