Ștefănuță outlines Moldova’s strategy for EU funding access
"The most pressing issue for the Republic of Moldova from the European Union's perspective is securing access to pre-accession funds," stated Nicolae Ștefănuță, Vice President of the European Parliament, during the program "360 Degrees" on Radio Moldova.
"Until now, aid has been primarily macroeconomic and budgetary—essentially financial support rather than funding for infrastructure or major projects. Areas of interest include energy, transportation, agriculture, the environment, and planting, among others. The primary effort I am leading, in collaboration with Daniela Morari, the Republic of Moldova’s ambassador to Brussels, and other allies, is to expedite access to these pre-accession funds. I believe that the aid should be well-structured," added Ștefănuță.
It should be noted that the Republic of Moldova will be able to access pre-accession funds starting in 2028, as the European Union's multiannual budget is established every seven years. The most recent budget, which covers the years 2021-2027, was approved in 2020.
