Austrian firefighters donate emergency vehicles to Moldova
A batch of emergency vehicles has been donated to the firefighters in the Republic of Moldova as part of a collaborative project with Austrian volunteer firefighters.
The twelve donated fire trucks will be distributed to IGSU subdivisions and volunteer fire stations across the country.
As a result, six localities will benefit from this emergency equipment, designated for rescue and volunteer fire stations: Pohrebeni and Ghetlova in Orhei District; Lalova and Mateuți in Rezina District; Clinceni in Soldățești District; and Sadaclia in Basarabeasca District.
In addition, two IGSU territorial subdivisions—the Municipal Emergency Situations Directorate in Orhei and the Căinari Rescue and Firefighters Unit of the Căușeni Regional Emergency Situations Directorate—have received these fire trucks, which will be utilised daily in their operations.
Furthermore, from September 3 to 5, 2024, Austrian volunteer firefighters will conduct training sessions for Moldovan volunteer firefighters in the localities benefiting from the specialised equipment.
This donation from the Austrian Volunteer Firefighters Association, part of the "Fire Trucks for the Republic of Moldova" project, aims to promote volunteering, facilitate experience exchange, and train volunteer rescuers in fire intervention and rescue missions.
Over the past 11 years, Austrian volunteer firefighters have donated more than 60 units of specialised equipment to their Moldovan counterparts.
