Messi, Ronaldo miss Ballon d'Or nomination
The renowned publication France Football has unveiled the list of footballers vying for this year's Ballon d'Or. The 30-player roster includes prominent names such as Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, alongside European champions Dani Carvajal and Rodri Hernandez.
Real Madrid boasts the highest representation on the list, with seven players in contention. Joining Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham in the pursuit of the prestigious award are Dani Carvajal, Kylian Mbappé, Federico Valverde, Antonio Rudiger, and Toni Kroos, who concluded his illustrious career at the close of the previous season.
Lamine Yamal, the breakout star of the European Championship held in Germany, has also secured a nomination. Additionally, Artiom Dovbik, the Ukrainian striker who claimed the top scorer title in the Spanish league last season and who notably played in the Moldovan league eight years ago, is among the contenders.
The list, published by France Football, further features Spaniard Dani Olmo and German Florian Wirtz. Notably, for the first time in two decades, neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo is included among the nominees for the Ballon d'Or.
The coveted trophy will be presented at a gala ceremony in Paris scheduled for October 28th.
