UAVs strike Kyiv: Ukraine endures new wave of Russian bombings

According to reports from regional authorities in Ukraine, from the evening of Sunday, September 8, until the morning of Monday, September 9, the country endured a new large-scale Russian bombardment using various types of weapons.

As a result of a rocket attack on the town of Derhaci in the Kharkiv region, a 76-year-old woman was killed, and 13 people were injured. This was reported by Oleg Sinegubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, as cited by DW.

"The occupiers used multiple rocket launchers," Sinegubov stated. He noted that at least eight homes were damaged by the bombardment.

In Kharkiv, "as a result of a hit" from a guided aerial bomb on the Kyiv district of the city, several private homes were damaged, according to Mayor Igor Terehov. Preliminary information indicates that there are no casualties.

A 70-year-old woman died in her home in Ochakov. "In the evening, the Russians bombarded Ochakov," said Vitaliy Kim, the governor of the Nikolaev region.

The capital of Ukraine experienced its fifth air attack since the beginning of autumn, reported Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, on Telegram on the morning of September 9. "During the night, the Russian army deployed attack UAVs, specifically Shahed drones, launched from the Kursk region," he reported.

Popko noted that "barraging munitions reached Kyiv after midnight in several waves" and that the capital’s air defence forces successfully destroyed all Russian attack drones targeting the city.
