Ursula von der Leyen announced her team. Romania’s portfolio

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, unveiled on Tuesday, in Strasbourg, the new team of European Commissioners and their portfolios, after weeks of political battles, which ended on Monday with the resignation of the Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton.

Roxana Mînzatu, appointed commissioner from Romania, received the People, Competences and training portfolio and she will also serve as vice-president of the European Commission. In total, the future Commission will have six vice-presidents, four of whom will be women.

Last week, Ursula von der Leyen pressed Parliament to start hearings earlier, as early as October, so that the next European Commission can start work on November 1. However, political observers believe that the launch of the Commission will not take place earlier than the beginning of December, some even talk of January next year. All these postponements also influence the date on which the actual accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the EU bloc could begin.
