Igor Grosu, about the new Russian ambassador in Chisinau: "Let's see if he promotes friendship between countries"

The Chisinau authorities have no reason not to accredit the new ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, told TV8. According to the official, the rejection of Ozerov's candidacy would serve as a basis for Moscow to victimize itself and accuse Chisinau of acting against the Russian Federation. The clarifications were made in the context in which Oleg Ozerov made controversial statements during his career and allegedly had links with the Wagner paramilitary group.

"Let him come, let him show himself, in the sense of showing that he wants to promote friendship between our countries. Let our attitude be very consistent, we demand respect for the Republic of Moldova", said the Parliament Speaker.

Previously, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, stated that the new ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau was confirmed in his position after the Moldovan authorities checked his activity.

The appointment of the new Russian ambassador, Oleg Ozerov, considered an expert in implementing "hybrid offensive" strategies in Moscow's interest, is a sign of dangerous escalation on the part of the Russian Federation, which could result in new steps to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova, said the expert in foreign policy, Mihai Isac, on the ÎN CONTEXT show from Moldova 1 TV.

We remind that the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov, was released from his position on September 10, by a decree issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Oleg Ozerov was appointed in his place. He has worked in various positions in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, France, and since May 2020 he is ambassador for special missions and head of the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Economic Forum.
