The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, concerned about foreign interference in the elections in the Republic of Moldova

Disinformation supported by the Kremlin, illegal financing and alleged vote-buying represent serious threats to the free and fair conduct of elections in the Republic of Moldova, reads a press release from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The finding was made after a delegation of APCE visited our country between September 17 and 18 and had meetings with several officials from Chisinau, as well as with representatives of the Central Electoral Commission.

APCE points that the Republic of Moldova is at a critical crossroads, and the upcoming presidential elections and the constitutional referendum on October 20 could be a turning point for the consolidation of democracy and state institutions.

APCE representatives called on all political actors to respect the Electoral Code and to refrain from corruption or illegal practices.

APCE will send a team of observers to the October 20 elections.
