USA allocates 135 million dollars for the economic recovery of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine
The US Congress will transfer more than 154 million dollars to support the countries most affected by the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, informs the US Agency for International Development. Thus, 135 million dollars will be allocated for the economic recovery of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. Another $18 million will go to support civil society and independent media in Russia.
According to USAID, the Kremlin's attack on the Ukrainian people has severely affected Ukraine's economy, which is expected to shrink by more than 45% this year. The agency also specified that the Republic of Moldova was also severely affected by the repercussions of the war, including the high inflation that led to an increase in the standard of living. The immediate support given to the private sectors in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova is essential to strengthen both countries while defending themselves from the aggression of the Kremlin authorities, reads the statement.
This support will also help Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to follow their European path. We remind you that at the end of 2022, the Republic of Moldova received, through USAID, a direct budget support of 30 million dollars from the United States of America. The Chisinau authorities previously announced that these funds will be used to overcome the energy crisis.
