The Republic of Moldova is preparing to take over the presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe

The steps taken by the Republic of Moldova to take over the presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe between November 2025 and May 2026 were discussed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, during a meeting with the new Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.

During the dialogue, the officials also talked about the progress made by our country with the support of the Council of Europe's Action Plan in the areas aimed at protecting the rights of children, refugees, combating domestic violence, propaganda and disinformation, corruption and money laundering.

The Secretary General of the Council of Europe declared that the new Action Plan for 2025-2028 will be adopted by the end of the current year, ensuring the continuity of the reform and development efforts of the Republic of Moldova.

We remind you that Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi is participating in the work of the high-level segment of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, which takes place in New York, between September 23-27.

During the visit, the Moldovan official will have bilateral meetings with counterparts from different countries, heads of specialized UN entities, regional organizations and exponents of international non-governmental organizations.
