Ukraine was once again the target of Russian attacks: US announces a military aid of 375 million dollars
That night, Kiev and Zaporozhye were again the target of Russian attacks. In Kiev, after defense forces shot down several "Shahed" drones, the debris of one of them hit a gas pipe in a five-story building in the city center, causing a fire on the first floor. The incident happened in the Peciorsk district, and around 20 cars were damaged, according to information provided by mayor Vitali Kliciko and the city's military administration.
In Zaporozhye, as a result of the attacks, seven people were injured, including a 14-year-old boy. According to Ivan Fedorov, the head of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, the attacks hit an industrial target, and several houses and an apartment block were damaged. Four women and two men are among the injured.
Meanwhile, the United States of America (USA) announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 375 million dollars. The package includes artillery ammunition, air defense systems and anti-tank missiles, essential elements for defending Ukraine against a Russian invasion. The announcement comes in the context of the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States, on the occasion of the UN General Assembly.
Zelenskiy called on the international community to oppose Russia's "colonial" war, stressing that Ukraine is fighting for a normal and peaceful life.
Today, White House leader Joe Biden is expected to announce other measures to support the Ukrainian military, including an additional security package.
Japan is also ready to give Ukraine an interest-bearing loan from Russian assets frozen abroad. According to RBC, a statement to this effect was made by Japan's ambassador to Kiev, Matsuda Kuninori, at the "Make Russia pay" conference, dedicated to the confiscation of Russian assets. The ambassador noted that Japan has pledged and provided Ukraine with more than $12 billion in bilateral assistance and plans to continue support, especially in the energy sphere - a priority ahead of the winter period.
Regarding Russia's frozen assets, Japan says it is working closely with its G7 partners and Ukraine to step up talks and implement foreign loans aimed at accelerating revenues for Ukraine.
