Andrei Năstase launches campaign in front of the Presidential Palace

The independent candidate Andrei Năstase launches campaign for the position of president. The event was organized in front of the Presidential Palace. Năstase declared that he would have a fair campaign, oriented only towards communication with the people. Andrei Năstase also said he would fight against poverty and corruption and promised to be a president dedicated to order, justice and welfare.

“Together with my specialists, we worked out a realistic program. I tell you that we can get Moldova out of poverty with a budget made for the people, with strong industrialization of the economy, with large domestic and foreign investments and, as a result, providing money for pensions, salaries, better education, affordable and quality medical services. My goal in this campaign is to interact with as many of you as possible, to listen to you, to plan the future of our country together,” said Andrei Năstase.

The presidential elections will take place on October 20, the same day as the constitutional referendum on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. The electoral campaign in the Republic of Moldova began on September 20, 2024. So far, the Central Electoral Commission has registered 11 candidates in the electoral race: the candidate supported by the PSRM - Alexandr Stoianoglo, the PAS candidate - Maia Sandu, Renato Usatîi - nominated by Our Party, the candidate of The Party for the Future of Moldova - Vasile Tarlev, former bashcan of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, former prime minister Ion Chicu, Andrei Năstase - independent candidate, Octavian Țîcu from the "IMPREUNA" bloc, Victoria Furtună, Tudor Ulianovschi and Natalia Morari - independent candidates.


Who is Andrei Nastase

Andrei Năstase, a lawyer by profession, began his public activity as the founder and leader of the Civic Platform "Dignity and Truth" in 2015. He participated in the 2016 presidential elections but he withdrew in favour of Maia Sandu.

In 2018, he won the elections for the position of general mayor of the municipality of Chisinau. After the election results were invalidated, because he would have done campaigning on election day, he became one of the leaders of the ACUM Resistance Movement. Năstase was also Minister of Internal Affairs, and later a councilor in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC).

In the November 2020 presidential election, being the candidate of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party, Năstase obtained 3.26% of the votes. In 2022, Andrei Năstase resigned from the leadership of the DA Platform Party, after the formation recorded modest results in the 2021 parliamentary elections.
