Approved by the Government: The population will receive warning messages on the phone, in emergencies and natural calamities
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova will receive warning messages, in emergencies and natural calamities, through mobile phones. A project to this effect was voted by members of the Cabinet of Ministers on October 9.
"Extreme weather phenomena affect the whole world, including the Republic of Moldova. We cannot avoid them, but we can be better prepared to manage them effectively and minimize their consequences. The project will allow institutions to be prepared for a quick response to emergencies and will establish new regulations to reduce risks at the level of critical infrastructure", said the Minister of the Interior, Adrian Efros.
The project is financed based on an agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in the amount of 37.4 million euros. In addition to the implementation of the public warning system through mobile phones, vehicles and equipment for intervention in emergency situations will be purchased from the available resources, and the hydrometeorological services will be made more efficient.
