"Electoral gifts" with expired sweets, from Șor, for children? IGP started a criminal case
More than 17,000 expired sweets were to reach citizens, wrapped in "electoral gifts". The General Inspectorate of Police (IGP) announces that more than 15 thousand packages, which were kept in a warehouse in Durlesti, were going to reach people for the purpose of electoral bribing.
"A little while ago, the Police came into possession of information that expired food products are going to arrive at some citizens, especially sweets, which were going to be consumed mainly by children", announced the IGP.
The law enforcement officers point out that the "gifts" were accompanied by a printed greeting, addressed to the citizens by the "leader of a criminal group". A criminal case was opened on this case.
We remind that the National Anticorruption Center is investigating over 100 cases in which voters claimed, accepted or received goods, services or advantages to influence the vote in the elections. Under new legislative amendments, voters who accept electoral "gifts" risk fines of up to 37,500 lei.
