Volodimir Zelensky: "We won't surrender Bahmut! We will fight as long as we can''
President of Ukraine Volodimir Zelenski has declared that there would be no withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Bahmut frontline in the Donetsk region. "We will fight as long as we can," assured the Kiev leader.
"No one will surrender Bahmut. We'll fight as much as we can. We will fight as much as we can. We consider Bahmutul our fortress. We consider our heroes who fell there as heroes. If there will be accelerated deliveries of weapons, namely long-range weapons, then not only will we not turn away from Bahmut, but we will start liberating Donbas," Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski was quoted by Ukrainska Pravda as saying.
Estonian Defence Forces Intelligence Centre Commander Colonel Margo Grosberg said that by holding Bahmut, Ukrainian forces have bought time to create new lines of defence, so they are likely to leave the city in the near future.
Bahmut has become the focal point of Ukrainian resistance to the Russian invasion and Moscow's efforts to regain the initiative on the battlefield. The Russian officials said Russian forces are surrounding Bahmut from several directions and fighting to take control of a road, an important supply route for Ukrainian forces.
