Romania and the Republic of Moldova signed a joint action plan in justice field

More intense cooperation in the justice field and boosting relations in the recovery of criminal assets are just some of the provisions of the new Joint Action Plan for 2025-2027, of the two ministries, from the Republic of Moldova and Romania, signed in Chisinau. It confirms the common intention to continue interministerial cooperation, said the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru.

"I am happy to notice that we renew it with an emphasis on the European integration component, on cooperation by seconding collaborators from the Ministry of Justice and other experts to the Republic of Moldova in the process of transposing the Community acquis into the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, boosting cooperation in the segment of the recovery of criminal assets and social reuse, the intensification of collaboration on the modernization of the penitentiary system, the intensification of the collaboration of the legal professions and the regulations regarding their activity and, last but not least, the improvement of the mechanisms regarding the protection of human rights in the two states", said the Minister of Justice.

Romania is ready to provide all the necessary support to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, said the Minister of Justice from Romania, Alina Gorghiu.

"We remind that this Action Plan in the justice field reflects the continuation of essential reforms in the field, strengthening the rule of law and improving the judicial system. Romania will assist in adjusting the legislation with the acquis of the European Union, best practices and technical support for the penitentiary system, joint professional training in the methods of working with criminals and exchange of experience in the recovery of criminal assets. According to the authorities, as the previous plan expires at the end of this year, with the signing of a new plan, the two ministries will have clarity regarding the collaboration for the coming years".
