Electoral debates for the republican constitutional referendum on Moldova 1 TV

The last two debates for the republican constitutional referendum were held this week on Moldova 1 TV. Six parties were invited to the studio, promoting the YES option in the October 20 election. All six formations delegated their representatives to the debates. Thus, the representative of the "Democratia Acasa " Political Party, Vasile Costiuc, the representative of AUR, Veronica Pascal, and the representative of the "NOI" Party, Ion Eșanu, the representative of the "ACASĂ" National Reunification Party, Ion Negrei, the representative of the " European Social Democratic Party" Political Party, Ion Sula, and the representative of the "Vointa Poporului" Political Party, Ștefan Urîtu came to the show.

The representative of the "ACASĂ" National Reunification Party, Ion Negrei, said that the Republic of Moldova is at a crossroads of a very important event - the constitutional referendum. "In this rather complicated context in which the world is, it is up to us to draw our path of our European development. It is also something desired by the population, and by the other European peoples, who support our European course, the argument is the financial support that the Republic of Moldova has benefited from during the last years".

The Republic of Moldova has followed the European path for about 20 years, and today it is impossible for its citizens not to continue the European path of the Republic of Moldova. "We recognize that, based on the social-political and economic situation in the Republic of Moldova and from the point of view of security, the only chance is to go and to integrate into the single European family".

Ștefan Urîtu, who represents the People's Voice Party, said that the desire for European integration has been a desire for many years, since the Soviet period, and now is a favorable moment for our country. "*We were listening to Free Europe, BBC; other sources of information and we dreamed of living in such an environment. Now these doors are opening for us and this moment is unique. The rigors of joining the EU were stricter, now they have weakened due to the policy promoted by the successor of the USSR, which wants to restore the communist camp"

The representatives of the “NOI” Political Party, Eșanu mentioned that his formation promotes the DA option in the republican constitutional referendum "We want the Republic of Moldova to continue the message of Maia Sandu who for four years promoted the EU and finally we ended up making a change in the Constitution. We want to be part of the European economic family, because a country that does not have an economy cannot develop even spiritually".

For her part, Veronica Pascal urged the citizens to vote, not to be passive and indifferent, because "the referendum represents the most democratic way through which the people decide their own interest".

"As long as we want to be in the European Union, we have the right to vote through this referendum. AUR reminds you that the shortest path to EU integration is reunification with Romania. Romania has been in the EU since 2007 and has demonstrated that there is freedom there, human dignity is respected there, the rule of law is there".

The representative of the Political Party "Democratia Acasa" Vasile Costiuc declared that it is important to say YES to the referendum, but it is more important to have a pro-European Parliament afterwards. In this regard, he cited the example of Georgia, where the Constitution states that European integration is the irreversible path, but the Parliament says otherwise.

"Our role is to reconfirm our status as desirous of joining the European community, but most importantly, in 2025 we must have a parliamentary majority, which will take this desire further. The others will not stand aside. Especially those who convince you to vote against are, in fact, Romanian citizens. For example, Stoianoglo, one of the candidates for the Presidency, is a Romanian citizen. How credible are Romanian citizens who say they are against Europe?"
