Electoral debates for the republican constitutional referendum on Moldova 1 TV. Summary of the last debates

The last two debates for the October 20 presidential elections were held this week on Moldova 1 TV. Five candidates who compete for the seat of president were invited to the show, but two of them - Victoria Furtună and Tudor Ulianovschi, both independent candidates - refused the invitation.

The electoral debates organized by Moldova 1 TV in the last week before the elections continued with the presence of the former Minister of the Interior, Andrei Năstase, the journalist Natalia Morari, both independent candidates, and Iurie Reniță, the representative of the "Impreuna" Bloc, who supported the historian Octavian Țîcu .

Poverty is the biggest threat to Moldovans, claims the independent candidate Natalia Morari. This is why, she says, her main strategic partner "will be the people of the Republic of Moldova", and her central objective, if she is elected, will be economic growth.

"I have a concrete economic program, which will transform our country in just a few years. I don't want to lie to you, "haleavî ne budet", there is no one to come with freebies".

The former Minister of the Interior, Andrei Năstase, says that he chose to run independently "of political parties, political, partisan, personal interests, of interests outside the country". He pledged to be a "president dedicated to the country and its people".

"As president, I will do my best to bring the Republic of Moldova as close as possible to peace in the region, this means liberating the country from an occupation army, from the huge arsenal we have in Cobasna" .

The representative of the "Impreuna" Bloc, Iurie Reniță, spoke on behalf of the independent candidate, the historian Octavian Țîcu. He emphasized that one of Tîcu's main objectives is to strengthen pro-European and unionist forces, especially in the context of threats from the Russian Federation.

"Octavian Țîcu, supported by the three parties, comes to face a necessary and urgent imperative - the consolidation of pro-European and unionist forces against the background of the increase in influence, but also of the disaster that the Russian Federation is causing in the Republic of Moldova. We need unity more than ever, to really strengthen the pro-European and unionist forces to put a stop to the Russian hybrid invasion in the Republic of Moldova".

We remind that, on October 20, citizens of the Republic of Moldova are expected at the polls. They will receive two ballot papers each: one for the presidential elections and one for the constitutional republican referendum, where they will have to choose one of the "YES" voting options " or "NO", answering the question: "Do you support the amendment of the Constitution with a view to the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union?".
