Iulian Groza: Authorities seek to prevent any disruption

Despite the attempts of Russia and its acolytes to influence the electoral process in the Republic of Moldova, the preliminary election results show that the citizens are much more resistant to these attempts, says the executive director of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms, Iulian Groza. According to the expert, although there were premises that showed mass destabilization, there would be no danger in this regard.

"I trust that our authorities seek to prevent any kind of provocation or destabilization attempts. I am confident that we all have the right and the opportunity to freely express not only the right to vote, but also the right to decide the future".

However, Iulian Groza mentioned that it is quite a complicated period. "Moldova, unfortunately, is in a situation of hybrid aggression from the Russian Federation. But, Moldova is not alone. Moldova has very clearly chosen its future. Today, Moldova is supported by our European partners, so I am confident that the results of these elections will greatly affect our future as well. Let's send a very strong message to our European partners to prepare for EU accession by 2030. [...] We are a European country, a country in the process of accession and I am very happy that most of our citizens realised its importance and voted".
