Women lead voter turnout in Moldovan elections
Over one and a half million voters presented themselves yesterday at the polls during the presidential elections and the constitutional referendum. According to data published by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the most active participants were those aged 36 to 45.
The CEC data indicate that, among the total number of voters present, women were the most engaged, with over 852,000 casting their votes compared to just over 710,000 men.
Voters aged 36 to 45 comprised the largest segment of those at the polls, accounting for 19.7 percent of the total. Nineteen and a half percent—305,000 voters—were aged 56 to 65. Meanwhile, just over 17 percent of those present at the polls were citizens aged 46 to 55, while those aged 66 to 75 accounted for 16.3 percent.
Additionally, just over 357,000 voters were aged 18 to 35, representing over 22 percent of those present at the polls. Furthermore, more than 70,000 individuals who voted were aged over 76.
