Germany supports the European path of the Republic of Moldova, said Chancellor Olaf Scholz in a phone conversation with the acting president Maia Sandu, who is aspiring for a new mandate. Scholz emphasized, on the "X" platform, that Berlin will continue to support Chisinau, including in the fight against external influence.
„We support Moldova's path to the European Union, which is now to be established in the country's constitution. I assured Maia Sandu in a phone call: We support your country in defending itself against foreign influence and destabilization.”.

The European Union accused Russia of "unprecedented" interference in the October 20 elections, organized by the Republic of Moldova. Also, the US has expressed concern about Russian interference in the second round of the presidential election.
We remind you that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova were called to vote on Sunday for their future president and to vote in the constitutional referendum on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU. In the first round of the presidential elections, the current president Maia Sandu scored 42.45% of the votes and the former general prosecutor Alexandr Stoianoglo scored 25.98%. The second round of voting will be held on November 3.
The referendum on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union ended with a marginal result. According to the data presented by the CEC, 50.38% of voters voted in favor of the country's European path, reflecting a minimal margin of support for this political direction.
