Government reshuffles likely ahead of Moldova’s elections

The presidential elections may be preceded by government reshuffles, according to the President of Parliament, Igor Grosu. In an appearance on Jurnal TV’s program Secrets of Power, the Speaker noted that any government, regardless of the reforms implemented, inevitably faces a degree of deterioration over time.

"Every government experiences wear over time, and any decision or reform undertaken involves risks. Only those who do nothing make no mistakes. (…) We will approach this calmly, addressing changes, strategies, and, yes, human resources. It's not a matter of integrity—there are good people who, under certain circumstances, can handle pressure, while others may struggle. There are individuals suited for peacetime and others who are more effective in times of crisis, acting swiftly, decisively, and with courage. The responsibility of political leaders is to recognize the right moment and acknowledge, 'Here is where the problem lies.'"

When asked if there would be dismissals after the presidential elections, the President of Parliament avoided a direct response but hinted that changes are possible: "Nothing is set in stone, of course. Situations change, and we must consistently respond with new strategies and new people. We need to attract individuals both from within the party and from outside it, even from abroad. In some institutions, I believe it was a very good decision to bring in people from outside the country, while in others, we need to evaluate each case individually."

The citizens of the Republic of Moldova are once again called to the polls on November 3, when the second round of the presidential elections will take place. On that day, the race will be between President Maia Sandu, running for re-election with the Action and Solidarity Party, and former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, representing the Party of Socialists.
