Austrian Parliament elects extreme right representative Rosenkranz

The Austrian Parliament has elected for the first time a representative of the extreme right to its leadership: Walter Rosenkranz, aged 62, who has been denounced by the Jewish community as a figure that "pays tribute to Nazi criminals," reports AFP.

Walter Rosenkranz was elected with 100 of the 162 votes cast, as announced by President Wolfgang Sobotka following the vote.

The election of a representative of the extreme right to the presidency of the Austrian Parliament follows a historic victory of the Freedom Party (FPÖ) in the legislative elections held at the end of September.
