30 rescuers from the Republic of Moldova participated in a search and rescue operations training program
A team of 30 rescuers from the Republic of Moldova recently participated in a basic training program dedicated to urban search and rescue team training. The training activities were guided by six experts from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency. During the courses, the Moldovan rescuers were familiarized with the good practices and experiences gained by their colleagues from Turkey. The course completion ceremony ended with the handing out of qualification certificates and diplomas of merit.
For over six days, Moldovan rescuers improved their intervention capabilities, and strengthened their knowledge and practical skills in the field of search-rescue work for people from the rubble of collapsed buildings, as well as rescued victims from the upper floors of damaged buildings.
"The first few days we conducted some theoretical lessons, after which we started planning practical lessons such as stabilizing heavy objects, concrete pillars, reinforced concrete, penetrating through concrete to the victim, stabilizing these concrete blocks. You have to think how to stabilize so as not to harm other colleagues or victims", says the head of the guard, Alexandru Vlah.
"The course was a basic training that most of us encounter with the activities that were carried out, not that in our daily life, but in our work activities," said senior officer Andrei Bădărău.
"All the exercises are very good for experience, they help us to intervene as quickly as possible in crises, as well as to save human lives. The most important thing is the safety of employees in the inspectorate, as well as security during interventions at the entrance to buildings," said head of the Department at IGSU Andrei Nour.
The subject of the training included basic search-rescue concepts, safety and security during missions, as well as the specifics of personal protective equipment. "These trainings are based on what to do in risky situations or natural disasters. We have had search-rescue trainings in the urban environment, after that, we plan to teach these trainings more deeply, after that we plan to organize a search-rescue training program in the natural environment and then on the water", said the TIKA coordinator, Tarîk Mete.
"I believe that the cooperation activity with the Ministry of Interior in Turkey will continue with other more important activities, we are discussing with colleagues in Turkey and we will develop our capacities in different fields", said the head of IGSU Alexandru Oprea.
The program is organized with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, with the aim of improving and strengthening the intervention capacities of rescue teams from the Republic of Moldova, in order to align them with European standards in civil protection field.
