Doctor detained for violating secret ballot in Comrat

The doctor who acknowledged the violation of the secret ballot in a nursing home in Comrat has been detained by the police. Based on the gathered evidence, it has been established that the doctor accepted corrupt financial inducements to misuse his position for this purpose.

According to the Moldovan General Inspectorate of Police, during the searches conducted at the medical employee's premises, conclusive evidence was seized, including documents of his corrupt actions and transfers obtained by the doctor through the PSB system—Promsvyazbank—linked to the criminal organisation Șor. These actions facilitated violations in the electoral process by leveraging his administrative position.

The detained individual owns several properties, which are subject to seizure to determine their origin. If the medical employee's guilt is established, he faces up to five years in prison.

The General Inspectorate of Police has announced the initiation of a criminal case following an alert from the “Promo-LEX” Association regarding a potential violation of the secret ballot involving 25 voters residing in the nursing home in Comrat during the electoral process on October 20. The Promo-LEX Association has called on state institutions to take action in this matter.
