Renato Usatîi stays neutral in Moldova’s presidential election

Renato Usatîi, who placed third in the first round of the presidential election, has announced that he will not support either of the two remaining candidates—Maia Sandu or Alexandr Stoianoglo—in the second round.

This statement was made on October 28 during a press conference. The leader of Partidul Nostru (Our Party) clarified that the decision was reached following consultations with party colleagues and citizens from across the country.

"After consulting with citizens, I, Renato Usatîi, personally declare that I will not vote for any candidate. At the same time, I wish to emphasise that I do not have the right to dictate what our citizens should do, whether they supported me or other political parties. Act as you see fit; you must decide whom you will vote for, or whether you will participate in the second-round presidential election."

It should be noted that in the second round, scheduled for November 3, Maia Sandu, the candidate from the Partidul Acțiune și Solidaritate (Party of Action and Solidarity), and Alexandr Stoianoglo, backed by the Partidul Socialiștilor (Party of Socialists), will face off. In the first round, Renato Usatîi, who ran as the candidate of Partidul Nostru, which he leads, placed third, securing 13.79% of the vote—over 213,000 ballots cast in his favour.
