Heavy snowfall in the Balkans
More than 25,000 homes in Serbia have been left without electricity due to strong winds and snow storms that swept across this part of Europe. Several roads were also closed due to fallen trees. A similar situation can be seen in some localities in the neighboring countries, Croatia and Montenegro. Meteorologists say that cold temperatures and snow storms will continue in the Balkan region in the coming days.

More than 250 kilometers of roads in the mountainous south-eastern part of Serbia were closed after, in some places, the layer of blizzard snow reached 2 meters. Workers clear the roads of snow.
"We didn't stop working all night. Now the colleague went up to clear a few more roads. If the traffic had not been stopped, many cars would have been stuck. Two vehicles were stuck but we got them out and all is well now.”
In Croatia, an alert was issued in the regions on the Adriatic coast, where the wind blows from the north at a speed of 130 km/h. Authorities in the Montenegrin city of Budva have warned citizens to stay indoors after strong winds destroyed the roof of a school, felled trees and street light pillars.
