Georgian opposition protests election fraud
The Georgian opposition has announced a new protest in Tbilisi against the parliamentary election results, which they deem incorrect.
At a press conference on October 31st, representatives of several opposition parties stated they had serious evidence of widespread fraud in the October 26th elections. The politicians have called for new elections and an international investigation into the irregularities, notes DW.
The next protest is scheduled for 7:00 PM on November 4th on Rustaveli Boulevard, where the opposition plans to present its detailed plan of action. Ana Dolidze, a representative of the "Strong Georgia" coalition, said the protest would be an important step in the fight to regain control of the country's future. Likewise, Elene Khoshtaria from the "Coalition for Change" urged citizens to take to the streets, claiming that a "coup d'état" had taken place in the country.
Previously, on October 28th, the opposition held a rally in front of Parliament in Tbilisi, where President Salome Zurabișvili also spoke and promised to defend the constitutional right of citizens to vote.
